“Do you remember the last time you took a break from your shitty job that you had thought would help you fulfill all of your dreams? It was an awful vacation. The airport security officials interrogated you like you were a criminal because you didn’t shave for few months; setting a new trend in your office, you forgot to carry the hiking shoes and couldn’t go on a trek that you had already paid for, the hotel manager accidentally missed our booking and you had to search multiple hotels before you finally rested your eyes in a shabby guest house with bright red lights in the gallery.
After two days of beach tripping, making friends, exploring the streets and sending all the photos to your long distance girlfriend, she breaks up with you over a text and you come back home from that vacation, drained.
It has been three months since you left that resignation letter on the HR manager’s desk and walked out nonchalantly with absolutely no 5 year plan hanging in your closet or in your mind.
Yesterday was the first day you switched on the laptop and started writing the unfinished chapters of your debut book. You now live in a small studio apartment and have a part time job in a cafe where you meet travelers from all over the world.
You have been breathing all this while and feel more alive than you ever did before. Now, instead of making last minute travel plans across the country, the world sets foot in the cafe and you have friends who would become travel guides if you ever visit their cities. Maybe, you didn’t sign up for this life but you chose it and today, living it is the best feeling that you had always dreamt of while sitting in that dark office overlooking the street from the large glass window in the vestibule.”
